Why live in Loches ?

The heart of Loches…

For over thirty years, this 18th-century townhouse has been carefully restored, bringing it back to life while preserving its original character. Over time, it has become more than a home: a place of continuity and shared moments, where each room and every wall reflects the passage of time, history, and a deep respect for the stone.

A property like this is never truly owned — it is passed on. Following the passing of my father in 2022, the time has come for a new chapter. This home is now ready to be entrusted to a new family who will continue its story and appreciate its unique character, generous volumes, and exceptional setting.

Extensive renovation work has been carried out over the years, always with the intention of preserving authenticity while ensuring modern comfort. The entire process has been carefully documented, with a comprehensive visual record detailing each stage of the restoration as well as the recent history of the house. This documentation will be passed on to future owners, as part of the continuity of this remarkable property.

Located in the heart of the Touraine region, approximately one hour from Tours and two hours from Paris, Loches enjoys a privileged setting combining accessibility and tranquillity. This historic royal town, dominated by its impressive medieval fortress, offers a rich heritage shaped by figures such as Joan of Arc and the kings of France. Nearby, the Loire Valley reveals its renowned landscapes and iconic châteaux, including Chenonceau and Amboise.

Beyond its heritage, Loches is appreciated for its quality of life — local markets, gastronomy, surrounding nature, and a calm, refined atmosphere. This lifestyle has long attracted an international clientele, particularly British buyers, many of whom have chosen to settle in the area.

The property itself is ideally positioned within the royal citadel. Access is through the Porte Royale, marking the transition into a preserved historic environment. Once inside, the house enjoys a direct view of the donjon and lies just a short walk from the collegiate church of Saint-Ours.

Here, history is not simply present — it is part of everyday life. Living in this setting means being immersed in one of the most remarkable heritage sites in the region, where historic streets, stone architecture and immediate proximity to landmark monuments create a truly unique and rare address.
